Choosing the right Kindle

Amazon's Kindle line has a clear hierarchy. The models we see most often on the secondhand market and recommend most are:

• Kindle Basic (gen 10/11) 6-inch 167 ppi screen, the lightest and cheapest entry point. Good for English novels or epub-via-KOReader if you don't need waterproofing.
• Kindle Paperwhite (PW3 to PW5/Signature) 6 or 6.8-inch 300 ppi, IPX8 waterproof, frontlight included. The Signature edition adds USB-C, wireless charging, and warm light. Best value on the used market and our usual recommendation for first-time owners.
• Kindle Oasis (gen 9/10) 7-inch 300 ppi, metal body with physical page-turn buttons. Worth it if you read for hours at a stretch.
• Kindle Scribe 10.2-inch with stylus support and on-device note-taking. Suits students and researchers who read large PDFs and want to annotate.

Under 3,500 THB we usually steer buyers to a Paperwhite 3 or 4 (still excellent for reading). 4,000-6,000 THB gets you a Paperwhite 5 with USB-C and a brighter screen. Oasis and Scribe come in batches; ask us to put you on the waitlist.

Our QC process

1. Reset and de-register the previous Amazon account, set up clean.
2. Charge cycle test; we don't list units below 70% of original battery capacity.
3. Touch-screen sweep across the full panel, check for ghosting or dead spots.
4. Wi-Fi test with a real download.
5. Frontlight, warm light, USB charging, power button, speaker if present.
6. Clean with proper screen solution and shoot 4-6 photos with the same camera setup we use for every listing.
7. Wrap in shock pouch, box, bubble — Kerry or Flash by your preference.
